Faithful Friend

They say a photograph is worth a thousand words, but of course, I’m going to have to add a few more…

There is so much I want to learn about taking photos and using Photoshop Elements to make them just as I want. For me sharing a photo is about sharing what I see and how I see it. Which is often more than the image taken.

The other evening I was wandering around the house fiddling and clicking away with my camera, just to see. Fiddle. Click. Look at the image… Click. Fiddle. Look at the image… Who knew there was so much to photograph in one house? Even my son started shooting me quizzical looks and you’d think he’d be used to me by now!

This sweet girl was curled up on the sofa, looking tired after an afternoon walk in the hills. Of all our dogs she is by far the sweetest and even after living with us for four years she still shows the effects of whatever she experienced whilst living on the streets. But for the most part, she is relaxed, happy and a faithful friend.

She looked so peaceful and content I thought this had to be this week’s Sunday Photo. Our house is not devoid of colour, I might add, I just thought I’d have a fiddle with black and white for a change.

Hello, I’m Debbie (also known as ChirpyDebs) and thank you for stopping by my little corner of the internet. Now the children are all grown up I’m happiest when I’m out with the dogs or hiking a trail with my camera in hand. My blog is where I like to share photographs showing the wild beauty of Zakynthos that most people don’t get to see, recipes and other seemingly random things that come to mind.

      Hi Nikki, I don't do it often as I shoot in RAW and have to convert to black and white afterwards, by which time I prefer the original coloured photo. Although some photos are perfect for black and white. Thank you for stopping by. xx

      Hi Nat, she looked happy and content and it's not often I can take a photo without her wiggling in my face. I totally agree, but I hope it's going to be a long time before we take on any new dogs as all ours are relatively young. Thank you for stopping by. xx

    She is such a sweetheart. No wonder you want to take lots of photos of her. I also always have the camera near me and take way too many photos of our dog since everything he does is so cute.

      Hi Mary, she is. I try to limit the photos I take now as going through them takes soooo much time and storage on the computer, but I couldn't resist a photo like that. Thank you for stopping by. xx

    Tired often equals happy (: What a sweet girl, I bet that pretty fur collects all sorts of things. Look out for snakes, Flossy! (My favorite aunt's name.) Would write more but watching the World Series.

      Hi Jeanna, I think it does in this case too. Her furs not too bad at collecting stuff as it's quite silky, it's Alphie whose fur collects every bur and twig and he hates it. He'll freeze until it's been removed... Flossy used to be a name I called everything without a name, so it was the name we gave her when I helped the doggy ladies get her off the street. We were only meant to foster her until she had a home, but she stayed and so dod the name... Hope your team wins! Thank you for stopping by. xx

    Hello Deb, Gorgeous Photo. I agree with you, Picture shows a lot of things and explains which words can`t. We just need to a have a sense of vision and understanding the real image.     I wonder that about my dogs too - what happened to them? How much do they remember? What I know is that they have a loving home, like all yours do! And such lovely photos of themselves too!

      Hi Tamara, I don't think they ever truly forget when they've had a tough time. Flossie still cows and piddles down if we greet her roughly and she's been with us for years now. I do keep reminding all our dogs they don't know how lucky they are, but secretly I think they know. They bring so much joy I can't imagine why people mistreat them. I think I may put this photo beside Flossie's bed now. Thank you for stopping by. xx

      Hi Elaine, she was living beside the main road near us for six weeks before we were asked to foster her after she had been spayed. A home wasn't found for her so she was going to be realised back, but in a safer area near a feeding station, but we couldn't let that happen, so we kept her. And no the trauma never really leaves them. She's been with us for four years now and still cows down if we greet her too enthusiastically and all we've done is love her.       Hi Jen, thank you. Every dog and child deserves that. At the moment there are stray dogs all over the place. I phoned one in today that was wandering around the main road. It breaks my heart to see. Thank you for stopping by. xx

    Hello Debbie. This just shows you that the best images are sometimes on your door step. this works very, very well in black and white. It's a great picture and you dog looks very peaceful .

      Hi John, I know. It just shows how familiarity stops us from seeing things in a creative way. When I started clicking away it was more for practice than getting an image to use. I think she was still happy with happy walking hormones. Than you for stopping by. xx
