About Me
Hi, my name is Debbie and some may say that I have led quite an interesting life so far…
Life is a balancing act.
Like many bloggers, I started blogging for fun and just to see if I could. It turns out blogging is fun, full time and relentless. There is always something to be doing on the blog whether it’s up front or behind the scenes.
I like to write about anything and everything that inspires, motivates or just plan tickles my fancy. My blog has become a much larger part of my life than I could ever have imagined. There is always something to do on it, whether it’s writing and preparing posts, reading and replying to comments or just keeping up behind the scenes with blog maintenance, it honestly never stops.
I am a wife to one and a Mum of two, I have a son who’s eighteen and a daughter of sixteen. My son has Aspergers with what I call added extras and with his permission I share posts about our experiences. We also have four dogs and three not-so-feral-anymore cats.
I grew up in Devon, in the South West of England, but left to travel for six months and haven’t lived there since. On my travels I met my husband, who is from South Africa and we lived there for a couple of years, before heading back to Greece (where we met) to take over a bar (which we had for nine years, until family became priority).
Having lived in Greece for far longer than I care to remember, we are happy and well and truly settled here.
My Likes…
There are plenty of things I like:
I like to keep fit and healthy without being fanatical about it. I know that aging is inevitable, but I like to stay as fit and healthy as I can. Early morning runs, walks and strength training are my favourite types of workout.
I like the euphoria I feel after a run or a bike ride.
I love Cadbury’s chocolate, although I do try to limit my chocolate intake to only a Friday…I hold my hands up, sometimes I do give in midweek!
I like Fridays. They are our family days full of bad food and bad television. On a Friday, if I want a doughnut for breakfast, I’ll have one. It’s the day we can eat chocolate ice cream straight from the tub and watch Hollyoaks or The Jeremy Kyle show. It’s that bad!
I like to laugh and be happy. A bit of a silly one that, as I am sure everyone likes to laugh and be happy.
I like to write. It is my therapy. It is what helps to keep me sane. It is the freedom of writing that I enjoy, just sitting down and letting the words flow is like standing on a mountain and shouting at the top of my voice – the sense of relief I get from writing really is that good!
I like reading and love my Kindle, but it takes me so long to finish a book as I always fall asleep within reading a few pages.
I like taking photos, it encourages me to look and notice what’s around me. Since receiving my first DSLR camera for Christmas I am really keen to learn how to use it properly.
I like walking with our dogs watching them run free.
I like the sights and sounds of nature; the sound of the sea lapping onto the beach and the dawn chorus, and witnessing trees that have been lying dormant all winter slowly bursting back to life in the spring. I love it all.
I like being me…
My Dislikes…
I don’t like to take myself too seriously. I have my moments and often need to, but life is too short to be too serious.
I don’t like crowds. Hate them, they make me sweat.
I really don’t like shopping, probably because shops tend to have other people in them .
I can’t abide greed, bullying or insincerity.
I don’t like using the elliptical trainer. It has to be one of the most mundane ways of working out there is, but when an injury strikes it is a life saver.
I hate having my picture taken, I don’t photograph very well and the sight of a camera being pointed in my direction makes me go all squirmy… Which is why my profile picture is not very good.
My Hopes For The Future…
I hope to continue to enjoy blogging and reading other peoples blogs.
I hope my blog continues to grow.
I hope that my daughter gets to fulfill her dreams and aspirations.
I hope that one day my son will be able to live an independent, happy and fulfilled life.
I hope to live to a ripe old age, being fit, healthy and happy until the end.
I hope that as a family, we always have ‘enough’.
