It Wasn’t To Bee
No, that’s not a spelling mistake! I promise. I’m just feeling a little bit silly today. Which could have something to do with the fact I spent a considerable amount of time, this morning, stalking the bumblebees that are busy pollinating the flowers on my courgette plants. The bees looked so easy to photograph as they casually go about their business, but alas it wasn’t to bee!
What my neighbours thought I don’t know! Saying that though I did see the chap next door tending to his garden early the other morning, just wearing his tighty whiteys! There are some things you just don’t photograph…
For anyone who doesn’t know, courgette flowers are huge yellow beauties that bumblebees seem to love. Just imagine Elmer Fudd stalking Bugs Bunny and you have a pretty good idea of how things went. Well, that and the fact that my Sunday photo is not of a bumblebee pollinating a courgette flower!
Instead, I took a photo or two of a rather pretty flower on one of my cactus plants.
My Sunday Photo
My original idea for My Sunday Photo wasn’t to bee, luckily this cactus flower was happy to step in at the last minute. The stamens look a little like a sea anemone, don’t you think?
It’s going to be a while until we see morning dew again, so I gave the flower a quick squirt of water to see how it would look.
I have set myself the task of getting a photo of a bumblebee pollinating a courgette flower for next week. Fingers crossed for that one. How often do your photos not go to plan?
