A Quick Update

It’s been so long since I put together a blog post I feel like a newbie all over again! Since the last post, I’ve changed my hosting site and have been having a real think as to what direction I would like to take the blog. Not as easy as it sounds, I can tell you and I’ve never been one for directions. Just ask the husband!

Who knew that re-categorising and tagging posts could be so difficult? I know I didn’t. Not that I’ve ever been the most organised person around, so far I know for sure that I want to continue sharing photos of Zakynthos and some recipes.

I’ve deleted almost one hundred posts that didn’t really relate to anything and I didn’t feel could be updated. It was a definite shall I, shan’t I? But they were taking valuable storage space and as I’ve gone for a minimal hosting package it made sense to delete them.

Time – A Lack Of…

The other odd thing is that now the ‘children’ are all grown up I seem to have far less time… I know! Not what I expected either! Or maybe now I have more time I have filled it with other things?

With work, walking the dogs, dedicating time to improving my camera skills (whilst exploring out and about around Zakynthos) and hiking, time is tight. Our hikes are still a big part of my life and since husband finds most new routes we are often out exploring which takes time.

When my site hosting came up for renewal I did think about letting my little corner of the internet drift away, but I can’t. I enjoy it too much. My blog is a part of my life now, maybe not as it once was, but I’m not ready to let it go yet. There is still room for blogging, just not as often.

This post actually started as a new Through My Lens post of a recent hike we did and I got sidetracked. I was obviously born ramble in more ways than one!…

Anyway, that’s a quick update for anyone who may be interested. Now to get on with my intended post…

Hello, I’m Debbie (also known as ChirpyDebs) and thank you for stopping by my little corner of the internet. Now the children are all grown up I’m happiest when I’m out with the dogs or hiking a trail with my camera in hand. My blog is where I like to share photographs showing the wild beauty of Zakynthos that most people don’t get to see, recipes and other seemingly random things that come to mind.

    Hello Deb, Thank you for sharing your experience with your blog. For me, it seems that something's always happening that's taking me away from it. The current pandemic and another out of state/complicated move soon (via a brief trip to Australia) is driving my focus away from the blog. I trust what you said that I'll get back to it when I'm ready. For now, when I get the time, I'm editing videos for Youtube as I'm getting a bit more traction there. My channel is called Make Eat Home. When you have time I would be grateful if you can check it out and maybe let me know what you think. It's another platform and a different beast altogether but I am enjoying cooking, which is one of my passions. I hope that you're staying safe, especially during this times.     Thought you were being quieter Debs but I do love the cheeriness you bring to the Internet. Glad to hear you're staying online for now! What's all this about having less time now the kids are grown up. Is this my future???

      Hi John, I have rather and thank you for noticing! I can vouch for Parkinson and his law, the time I've gained I've managed to fill and I'm not really sure how. Maybe you will manage your time better than me, I've always been a fart in a colander! Thank you for stopping by. xx

      Hi Wyatt, at one time I did think of doing two blogs, luckily I didn't though. Blogging is a very time consuming, but rewarding hobby. I would hate to lose all my memories too, but apart that blogging does keep my brain working and compliments my hobby of photography nicely! Thank you for stopping by. xx

    So glad you’re continuing! I love reading about your walks and life in Greece. I had a long hard think about my blog last year too but I’m still publishing posts. I have also started working out how to commit blog to paper/save offline as I’d hate to lose all the memories if or when I give up.

I'm glad you chose not to give up too, I may not read as many blogs as I used to but I do have my favourites and I do like to see where you've been enjoying cake on your adventures. I did wonder if it was possible to save a blog. I know you can have it made into a coffee table book, which would be quite nice but seemed expensive. Thank you for popping by. xx

    Glad to see you are still around Debbie. I too have to agree that now that the kids are grown I do not have time for blogging. I wish you all the best in your new direction of the blog. Sometimes all it takes is a little change to put wind in our sails.

      Hi Mary, only just. I do have to admit to having lost a little mojo too. I'm sure not getting out hiking with friends has impacted how I feel big time. Have a few blog post ideas, just need to get back into the habit as blogging and its community is something I do love deep down. Thank you for stopping by. xx

    Great to see a post from you. I've missed you and am glad you're back. Sometimes you need to rethink what you're doing and you've done that. I'm glad you're going to post now and then.     Hello Deb, So nice to read your latest post! I’m glad you’ve decided to keep writing but I could imagine how big of a work you needed to do to reorganize your blog. I’m in the same boat. It’s been 9 months since I last posted on my blog. I didn’t really expect that this will happen. My family moved to another city and the move and getting everybody settled in our new home took time. I also started a YouTube channel so my efforts have been going to that. I hope to get back to my blog one day. I just don’t know when that will be. Enjoy your hikes! Best, Sigrid

      Hi Sigrid, I don't envy you the move. I can't think of anything more stressful and of course, it takes time to settle and find a new routine. Over the years I have stepped back from the blog, sometimes it just gets too much especially in summer when life is hectic, but this has been the longest break and I really wasn't sure if I would pick it back up... You'll get back to your blog when you are ready and YouTube must take some doing. I imagine it's far more difficult than blogging!... What's your channel? Thank you for stopping by! xx
