Fairy Dining Room
A couple of weeks ago Zakynthos was hit by a mini-cyclone and this week we’ve had a bit of a bone rattler of an earthquake. The earthquake caught us by surprise (as they do) and has meant I didn’t get to do some of the things I planned. Getting out and about with the camera for one.
The humid temperatures since the mini-cyclone have seen toadstool villages popping up all over. Most noticeable around the olive groves where I walk the dogs.
My favourite toadstools have to be these lovely orange ones. They seem to grow either on their own or in a cluster of two or three. And usually growing around the base of olive trees.
This morning whilst out walking, this nice little toadstool scene caught my eye. I liked the way it was nestled in the hollow of an olive tree and must have sprung up overnight. I’d like to imagine that a tiny fairy family gather there to catch up on their day. Yes, I’m thinking fairy living room. Maybe the bedrooms are in the trunk of the tree? And they have a tiny unicorn as a pet!
My Sunday Photo
A little fairy dining room.
I’m surprised it wasn’t blurry as I had Buddy (big furry dog) on the lead and I had to climb up to be able to take the photo. The poor dog couldn’t decide whether he had to go further up or stay down.
Do you get interesting looking fungi where you are?
