Blood Moon
I know the internet has been flooded with photos of the blood moon that happened on Friday night, but I couldn’t, not share mine too.
Last Friday evening I’d met up with friends for a quiet meal to mark a birthday. As we were leaving the restaurant the lunar eclipse was starting.
Arriving home I grabbed the camera, changed the lens for my 18-300mm, stuck it on the tripod and hurried onto the roof as quickly as I safely could. With my track record of photographing the moon I really didn’t hold out much hope, but I’m a trier!
Getting the camera to focus was a real nightmare as the moon was getting darker (and redder by the second). The settings were hit and miss and there was still visible camera shake even using a remote shutter button.
After about half an hour I reluctantly called it a day. I was tired, my neck was getting stiff and my eyes were squiffy. Looking through the images on the viewfinder there was not one I thought was shareable. Or so I thought!
In the week I’d taken a photo or two of a lizard I rescued out of a water bottle and thought that would make a nice Sunday photo. Whilst looking through the photos on the SD card on my laptop can you imagine my excitement when I came across a semi-decent photo of the blood moon? Yes, I actually squealed with delight!
Okay, it’s not the best, but it is the best moon photo I’ve taken to date!
Drum roll, please…
DrrRRRrrRRrrRRrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrr…….
My Sunday Photo
Tada… The blood moon over Zakynthos on Friday night.
Did you get a good view of the blood moon where you were?
