Our Walk From Porto Roxa To Kampi And Back
In the space of a few days, the weather has gone from being gloriously summerlike to positively wintery. Don’t you hate it when it does that? Last Sunday the Zakynthos Walking Group headed to Porto Roxa for the start of a 9km Sunday walk from Porto Roxa to Kampi (and back). It seems it may have been the last day of summer!
Porto Roxa is situated on the West side of the island. The turnoff from Agios Leon looks doubtful, but follow it and you’re heading in the right direction and will get to Porto Roxa.
The walk didn’t take us all the way to Kampi, but almost. Close enough to see the cross at Kampi before we turned and headed back. The trails were rough underfoot and there were a few steep bits, but I think you’ll agree it was worth it.
As always I had my trusty big girls camera in one hand and the dog strapped firmly to my waste. Come join the Zakynthos Walking Group on a walk…
Our Walk From Porto Roxa To Kampi (& Back)
Through My Lens
The Zakynthos Walking Group head off on their Sunday walk from Porto Roxa to Kampi (& back).
The West coast of Zakynthos is rugged and cliffy.
This house has views to die for, although getting in the weekly shop would be a trek and a half. Living on an island we tend to forget that a half hour drive isn’t actually that long!
I must admit that at first, I thought this walk was going to be the sameish photograph-wise, but I was wrong.
The further we walked the better the views became.
Our Sunday walk didn’t take us quite all the way to Kampi, but close enough to see the cross. Can you see the cross?
The Walk Back
The scenery on the second half of the walk was much greener than the first half.
Looking at the valleys of green you’d never guess the island has just come out of a long and very hot summer.
Getting out and exploring the island is what our Sundays in winter are all about. Believe me when I say the weather is not always so bright and warm!
The trails were a little rocky underfoot.
Just look at that view, though! You won’t see that sat on the sofa!
How can anyone get fed up with seeing this? The photo does not do the view one bit of justice.
Or this.
I’m not a fast walker at the best of times, but when I’ve got Alphie and my camera, of course, I’m going to be almost last!
A final breather to soak up the views (and sun) before heading back to the cars.
One tired Alphie. He does enjoy our Sunday walks.
Did you enjoy our walk? Where have you walked recently?
