Butterflies Getting Jiggy With It
It’s that time of year when all around us birds are chirping, bees are buzzing and butterflies are getting jiggy with it.
On a recent wander up in the mini-hills the butterflies were out in full force, looking pretty and happily flitting from flower to flower doing what butterflies do. I actually got some decent photographs of a few different species of butterfly that day without having to do the ‘stalk and walk’ as I had to do the last time I tried to get a decent photo of a butterfly (anyone who has tried to photograph a butterfly will know what I mean).
However near the end of our walk my attention was drawn towards a couple of butterflies ‘dancing’. On closer inspection I nearly blushed and averted my eyes (only nearly) as I realized what the butterflies were doing, but having a camera in my hand meant I couldn’t look away. Even if I had wanted to, I couldn’t look away before I had snapped a photo or ten of the butterflies getting jiggy with it.
Butterflies Getting Jiggy With It
These butterflies were too busy ‘dancing’ worry about me and my camera.
The pair of butterflies getting jiggy with it were clearly not worried by me or my camera as they got down to business.
Judging from the photos I’ve seen online and the fact that it’s quite a common butterfly in Greece (there are loads up in the hills), I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a small heath butterfly. Please correct me if I’m wrong!
So tell me, are the butterflies getting jiggy with it where you are?
