Being one who isn’t keen on change and looks after things almost to the point of obsession, I sometimes find myself in the position of owning something that is long past it’s sell by date and would benefit from an upgrade.
My Recent Upgrade…
For the past six years I my mobile phone has been a pretty pink Nokia 5C. And thanks to the fact I kept it in a case, it still looks like new. My husband and son both moved onto smart phones last year and love them, they have iPhone 4s’s and although they may not be the latest version of the phenomenon that is Apple, they are both tickled pink with their phones.
Until recently I had never been a fan of smart phones. The seemed too small for what they could do and I really liked my pretty pink Nokia. Owning one had never interested me, although having an Instagram account did!
What Changed My Mind?…
(Apart from wanting to try Instagram?).
A few weeks back I wanted to do a bit of blogging and watch the London Marathon and I couldn’t do both at the same time. Greg’s came to the rescue and put the Marathon on his phone, so that I could watch it and blog at the same time.
Okay, so the screen could have done with being larger, but I was impressed by the clarity (chokes me to say it!) and the sound was better than I expected. It piqued my curiosity to say the least.
Before I Knew It…
I had a bee in my bonnet and was surfing the net, checking out smart phones. I wanted an upgrade to my pretty pink Nokia 5C!
It became an obsession. What I wanted was a smart phone (preferably Nokia), but not a dinky one. I was on the lookout for one that would double as a tablet (something else I had been umming about since Mum got hers, but wasn’t keen on the size).
It Wasn’t Long…
Before I found what I was looking for….The Nokia 1520!…It was perfect, but (why is there always a but?)…It was a little out of my price league.
Never one to be beaten, I kept on looking…
And found the Nokia 1320. Obviously it’s not quite up there with the 1520, but at almost half the price who was I to argue?
It had a six inch screen, which was the same size as the Nokia 1520, which is what attracted me the most.
You know that moment when you realise you’ve found what you were looking for, well that’s how I felt, but I do like to have a cooling off period (I find it helps to prevent impulse buys), so I backed off to think about it.
A Few Days Later…
I still knew I wanted t upgrade to the Nokia 1320 and so placed my order. Which I received on Tuesday….And…I love it already!
It is installed with Windows 8.1, which works surprisingly well on this phablet (which I learned is the name for a phone/ tablet hybrid). It is fast enough for me and the size, although on the age side for some people, is perfect for me.
I just have to find a pretty pink case for it and hopefully it will last as long as my pretty pink Nokia 5c did.
I Did Feel A Little Sad…
As I didn’t know what to do with my old phone, but I needn’t have worried as my daughter has quickly taken charge of it. Although I have been told that I have to except that not everyone looks after things quite like I do.
