Postcard Greece
This week’s choice of Sunday photo wasn’t difficult. It was one I took a few weeks back whilst on a walking mini break in Tyros (I still intend to share photos from the walks in posts, I just haven’t got there yet!). My main problem this week was the title of the post! Please tell me I’m not the only person who has this problem?
When I look at this photo, it oozes Greekness (is that even a word?), but an old Greekness. A glimpse of Greece when times were simpler; picture postcard Greece. It wasn’t so many years ago that I used to regularly see a chap on his donkey on the Vassilikos road. It never failed to make me smile, it was old Greece meets modern Greece as the old chap always seemed to have a Lidl’s bag hanging from the front of the saddle.
This photo was taken in Tyros, where donkeys are still used to carry things down from the hills.
My Sunday Photo
Don’t be fooled, the chap isn’t taking a bundle of olive branches for a walk! If you look closely you will see a donkey beneath the pile.
Do you still see glimpses of times gone by where you live?
