Starting Next Tuesday: The Keeping It Real Link Up
Hello there people & fellow bloggers!
How are you all? Feeling good? Glad to see the back of January? I know I am. We’ve just had the most miserable January I can remember for years and it does affect the soul, doesn’t it? Grey, damp and cold weather really gets me down, which is probably why I no longer live in the UK.
Roll on spring, that’s what I say!
How do you cope with winter? Maybe you prefer the cooler weather?
What Is The Keeping It Real Link Up All About?
Up until recently, I was co-hosting the #MMBC and always enjoyed sharing a bit about my week and reading about yours too. The good and the not so good. The funny and the not so funny. Basically, the everyday goings on that make up our lives.
Sharing what goes on in our everyday lives helps us not only relate to others but also to realise that other peoples lives are no more exciting than our own. Not really. And I think that’s a good thing.
The internet has changed how we view things. It is all too easy to distort reality in our minds and to imagine that we are missing out on things and that everyone else is living such interesting lives. I don’t want to live in a make-belief world of ‘perfection’, I want to keep things real.
So will you pop over next Tuesday and share what you’ve been up to in the past week? I know I’d like to read it!
My New Reading Glasses
Last Week I picked up my very first pair of prescription reading glasses and what a difference they make! I never thought I would ever see text so clearly again. I’ve reduced the size of the text on my Kindle big time, now there are about ten words on a line as opposed to six.
For Christmas, I was given a Viz annual (anyone else remembers Viz?) but haven’t been able to really enjoy it as I was battling with the text. Now that’s a problem of the past. I can sit a chortle away to myself.
The lady in the shop said she’s never seen anyone so happy to get glasses, that’s how happy I am!… It’s the simple things…
What simple things make your day?
Every Cloud Does Have A Silver Lining!
On Sunday our Sunday walk was cancelled due to bad weather. After the last time when we braved the elements only to end up walking eight kilometres in the rain and got soaked through to the skin we decided to stay home and enjoy a PJ day… Doesn’t everyone need a PJ day every now and again?
Not having to leave the house and with my new, improved vision I decided to make a start crocheting the little green elephant I bought in a kit the other day in Lidls. It’s been a long time since I crocheted and even then I wasn’t very good, so where did I turn to help me read the pattern? Why YouTube of course!
I don’t think I will ever get over just how useful YouTube can be. I watched several step by step videos and after a couple of hours, I had crocheted a little elephant leg!… To be honest, I did think it was the body, so I have a feeling the finished elephant may turn out to be a creature nightmares are made of!
I hope to have it finished in a week or two and will be surprised if it looks anything like it does on the box. Time will tell.
Do you crochet? What have you crocheted?
Photographing The Full Moon
Did you know that last Wednesday (January 31st) was a blue moon? And that doesn’t literally mean it was blue (or was that just me?). Apparently, the name is given to a full moon when it’s the second full moon to fall in a calendar month.
Anyway, I’ve never had much success with photographing the moon but recently got a tripod so I thought I’d give it another go. Haha, of course, it was cloudy! But undeterred I headed up to the roof with my camera attached to the tripod.
I extended the tripod but found I still had to kneel on the cold floor to see through the viewfinder. Having Googled the best manual camera settings to photograph the moon with I spent quite some time trying different ones. That was when the moon made a brief appearance.
It was only when I got back into the house moaning about being cold and having sore knees that I realised the tripod extended another six inches! At least it amused the family! And to increase their amusement I didn’t even get a decent photograph of the moon either… (mumble, mumble).
Did you manage to get a photo of the ‘blue moon’? What ‘oops’ moment have you had recently?
I do hope you will join me next Tuesday.
