So New, So Vulnerable
Last Sunday, on our Sunday walk we were lucky enough to see this precious moment. A newly born goat still attached by the umbilical cord to its mum. We didn’t actually witness the birth, but the baby goat couldn’t have been long in this world.
Mum was on her own in the field and looking very vulnerable. We did give her the respect and space she needed as we passed by, so I don’t think we added to her stress.
To see something so new to this world instinctively know what it has to do to survive was special. Even though the kid was still attached to mum it knew where to nuzzle for milk.
This time of year it’s not unusual to see young lambs and kid goats springing among the olive groves and it is lovely to see. But never have I seen anything so newly born. All wibbly and wobbly.
My Sunday Photo
All wibbly and wobbly, this newly born goat knew just what to do. Amazing isn’t it?
Have you been lucky enough to witness the birth of an animal? How amazing was it?
