Monday Morning Blog Club 29/01/2018
Good morning people & fellow bloggers!
How are you all? Can you believe we are almost one full month into 2018? It only feels like yesterday that we were taking the Christmas decorations down., we’ll be putting them back up before we know it at this rate.
How has January been for you? Will you be glad to see the back of it? I know I will. Normally January doesn’t bother me, but this year it’s been a pretty miserable one and I’ve not liked it one bit!
My First Eye Checkup
Getting a proper eye test has been on the cards for a while now. I’ve been making do with cheapy minimum strength reading glasses for the last couple of years, but they are no longer good enough really. Actually going for a proper checkup is something I always put off, but with my daughter having to have her eyes tested to get her driving licence I had no excuse not to really.
The eye testy lady (don’t even ask me to spell optometrist (?) this early in the morning!) did a really thorough job. I looked through all sorts of equipment. She even suctioned my eyes to take a pressure reading (totally painless, honest).
After 45 minutes of testing, I came out with a prescription for a proper pair of reading glasses, that I hope to get this week. I was bouncing off walls with happiness as I thought I’d never see text and detail so clearly again! Really, I was elated.
The system here allows me to get one pair of prescription glasses at a discounted rate, but that means running around going to offices and getting stamps (I can’t wait!). The eye testy lady was private, which sometimes is worth paying for as the hospital and IKA doctors don’t tend to have up to date equipment. Going private also means getting a more thorough checkup which makes it 30 Euros well spent.
Do you have regular eye checkups? Did you find your eyesight diminish after a certain age?
I know I’m always harping on about the weather, it’s the English in me. Last Sunday it rained so much it must have rained out as this week it has been dry, but oh, so, cold!
When I’ve been home that fire has been lit. Outside in the sun, it is beautifully warm, but our houses are not made to hold the heat and as soon as you walk inside there is a definite drop in temperature (we open the fridge door for extra warmth). I really hope the temperature rises a tad this week, as when I’m cold I’m miserable!
Is your house a blessing to walk into in the winter? Or do you have to wrap up to go indoors?
What have you been up to recently? Any exciting or not so exciting plans for the week ahead?
Now on with the link-up…
