A Ginormous Spiders’ Web!
This week there was no competition in my mind for what was going to be My Sunday photo. Last Sunday the Zakynthos Walking Group headed out for the first walk of the winter and of course, I took my camera, not forgetting my SD card this time. Let’s face it though it wasn’t the first time I forgot my card and it won’t be the last!
For our first walk, Derek led us around the tracks and through the woods of Kiliomenos. It was a pleasant stroll, perfect for the first walk and the weather was spot on, if not a little too hot.
Whilst we were walking I spied a ginormous spiders’ web. It was strung between two olive trees, with the ‘guy ropes’ fastening the web to the two trees being at least four meters in length. It was huge! Proper ginormous!
Now I have written before about my deep and unreasonable fear of spiders. It’s a fear I can’t describe, but it doesn’t stop me taking photos of the creatures (Yay! For zoom lenses!) or from admiring their handy work from afar.
My Sunday Photo
I can’t believe my trembling hand didn’t blur the photo!
I did not expect the photo to come out as well as it did as it was really only visible when the sun caught it at the right angle. And I was not willing to get too close! The main part of the web itself was probably about eighteen inches across and as you can see had taken a bit of a battering…. If that spider had so much as moved a leg I swear I would have died!
Do you have an unreasonable fear of spiders? What’s the largest spanning web you’ve ever seen?
