Dogs Go A Lizarding
Zola has been with us for a year now and has grown into an extremely lively and bouncy dog. She is still best friends with her partner in crime, Buddy and they do get up to some mischief together.
Together they ‘kill’ tissue boxes (my daughter has a habit of leaving them on the chair) and will dig up anything in their way to get to a lizard. Luckily the lizards are far too fast for them. We have never had a pair like it, but then we’ve never had two young dogs at the same time.
Saying that though Zola did manage to get hold of a dirty great big rat the other day. Now that was not a photo moment, although the size of the rat was impressive. How she didn’t get bitten I don’t know!
Rodents big and small come with the territory. We have woodpiles for the winter that make perfect hideyholes for rats and mice and we live in the sticks. We also have a cat that I’ve had strict words with since the rat incident!
And So The Stalking Started
I’ve wanted to get some decent photos of Zola and Buddy for a while now, but it’s easier said than done! Sounds like a Sunday Photo sort of thing, doesn’t it?
Zola is very pretty but doesn’t sit still. I swear she’s related to Tigger. Buddy is a big black fur ball and is hard to get a decentish photo of because of his colouring.
One evening in the week I saw the pair of them obviously in lizard mode. I say the pair of them, but to be honest, Zola goes into lizard mode and Buddy just follows, looking unsure of what’s going on. I can imagine him thinking, “Ehhhh, it looks like fun, so why not?”.
I’m sure that some of you out there with more than one dog will witness similar behaviour. There always seems to be a leader and a follower, both the male dogs in our house are followers. The females definitely rule the roost.
Well, I grabbed my camera and started stalking (of course I did!). The photos aren’t great, but they’re going to have to do for now.
My Sunday Photos
Zola still has that crazed look she gets when she goes a lizarding. I think she has just realised that the lizard has long gone and is wondering how that happened!
Buddy never seems sure of what’s going on, but how could I not take a photo when he’s looking proper ‘andsome like this?
What sort of things do your dogs get up to?
