Leaving On A Ferry Boat

It’s been so long since I wrote a blog post I may just have forgotten how, so do bear with me! At the end of March, a few of us from the Zakynthos Walking Group packed our bags and headed over to the mainland for a weekend of walking. It was a fantastic weekend away and of course, I have a lot of photos to share.

This photo was planned as My Sunday Photo for a few weeks back, but life sort of threw us some challenges recently. Which saw me back off from blogging and social media. I don’t know about you, but when I’ve had to step back from blogging I always feel strangely aware of myself when I return. It’s almost like starting all over again, except it doesn’t take long to feel at home again. A bit like putting on winter slippers after a summer of walking barefoot.

Anyway,  I’m sure you may have noticed I have not lost my ability to waffle, so let’s get on…

We don’t often venture across to the mainland, so it’s not often we get to see Zakynthos from this angle. It was a beautiful sunny day when we left, which enhanced the blue of the sea and the sky. It really made me realise just how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful place.

    Deb I love ferry rides. That feeling you get of the wind in your hair and the salty smell. There is nothing like it. I took a week off also for Easter but it felt like it wasn't enough. Sometimes we just need to step back and breathe!

      Hi Mary, I'm fine on a ferry if it's calm,if the sea is rough I am not a happy bunny. I sort of turn green around the gills. Taking a step back allows us to recharge that's for sure. And a week away from blogging can feel like an age, don't you think? Thank you for popping back. xx

    So glad to have you back! I love your snippets of life in Greece. I've been really lucky to have been on many Greek ferries. The first was Brindisi to Patras in 1974. Then various around the Greek islands and many from Athens to Kythera.       Hi Cardigan, thank you! I am glad you like the snippets I share. I've done the Patras to Brindisi ferry trip many moons ago too, still feels like yesterday though. We used to see a lot of dolphins off of Spetses when I worked there, they are amazing creatures. We don't seem to get them around Zakynthos so often though. Thank you for stopping by. xx

    You are indeed lucky to live in such a beautiful place and I love seeing all your photos. I hope your trip to the Mainland went well. I thought you'd been a bit quiet, but I've been a little quiet myself the last couple of weeks. I wasn't very well (But feeling better now) and my kids had taken over my laptop a lot over the holidays as their's was in for repair ( great timing!)
