Baby Loggerhead Turtles
This week I shared a post sharing the highlight of my summer. Which was, in case anyone is interested, getting to witness and photograph baby loggerhead turtles making their journey from the nest to the sea. It was certainly something very special to witness.
And of course, I took plenty of photos. Some more of which I’d like to share in this post. After which I promise not to share anymore until next summer. And then only if they are new ones.
This Baby Loggerhead Turtle Made it!
After a hard struggle down the beach, this baby loggerhead turtle made it to the sea.
This is the first time this baby loggerhead turtle has ever felt the sea on its shell.
The next wave engulfs the tiny turtle, dragging it into the sea.
Baby turtles are so small and vulnerable. Very few will make it to maturity. Many become food for other sea creatures or end up dying because of the rubbish that pollutes the sea. If this one is one of the lucky ones and makes it to maturity, it will one day return to the same beach to reproduce.
It may seem like an age away now, but what was the highlight of your summer?
