Walk
This post was going to be simply titled ‘walk’, but then that irritating ear worm of a song called ‘Work’ – by Rhianna (not forgetting Drake – that for anyone who doesn’t realize, is not a male duck!) popped into my head, and I found myself exchanging the only audible word in the song, for the word ‘walk’, which I think works slightly better, don’t you? Just for the record, the song itself irritates me, but then that’s probably an age thing.
Walking
This week there has been plenty of walking, probably because the summer season is almost upon us and once summer arrives there will be very little time for walking until next winter. On Zakynthos, April is a time when people start to get their businesses ready for the tourist season; mini markets and tourist shops have to be stocked, whilst hotels and apartments have to be made ready for the holiday makers.
Last Saturday some of the walking club did the twenty three kilometer walk that was postponed due to bad weather a couple of weeks back ( I didn’t manage to get many photos as I fell and damaged my camera lens, thank goodness it was fixable by someone who knows his lenses!).
One of the views over Zakynthos, taken before me and my camera hit the floor. You can actually see the sea on both sides of the island, albeit not very clearly in this photo.
The twenty three kilometer walk took us through some beautiful areas on Zakynthos.
Then on the Sunday we did an eight kilometer English Easter walk, I say English Easter as Easter here isn’t for a few more weeks. The Easter walk was a fun one for the children as Derek went up in advance and hid some Easter treats in the bushes.
Yesterday we did a beautiful eleven kilometer walk in the hills over Pantokratoras, the weather was perfect and the views were pretty and my camera was working.

Due to the clock change last weekend, the sun was still quite low when we set off on yesterdays walk.
This Weekend
We have two more walks planned.
One tomorrow, of an undetermined distance to check out some caves called the Dragon Caves. We’ve been warned it’s a rough, steep climb to the caves, so I hope they are as exciting we expect them to be.
And finally on Sunday we have a walk of over eleven kilometers, with an added clamber down to a rocky beach.
I do love everything about the walking; the people are great, it gets us out and about and helps keep us fit. However this week it has had its downside, which is I’ve fallen right behind on my blogging schedule!
How would you describe your week?
