What Home Means To Me
Recently Morgan from Morgans Milieu tagged me in the ‘What Home Means To Me’ blog series, and it really got me thinking about what home really does mean to me.
So here goes:
What Home Means To Me…
Home is my sanctuary, it’s my ‘safe’ place. It’s where I can be my unashamedly quirky self. Home is where I can do, say and be ‘me’ without having to keep myself in check.
I find the world, outside of the four walls that I call home, exhausting. It’s a manic place that makes me feel like I go into overdrive. It makes me squirm and it drains my energy. People drain my energy, so I need a place away from it all.
I am a home-bird. I love my home. I love my home with my family there with me and I love my home, when I am alone there (which isn’t often).
I love the familiarity of my home. The smells, the noise, the chaoticness of it all. I love it because they are our familiar smells, our familiar noises and our familiar chaoticness and there are few surprises.
I have traveled a fair bit and on my travels the most important thing for me was having somewhere to call ‘home’. It did not have to be somewhere large or grand, it just had to be a place where I felt ‘safe’. Somewhere to return to, to unwind in; a place to recharge my batteries. Somewhere I could close the door and I feel at home.
My home is where I draw my strength, without it, I’m not sure I would cope.
