ARGH!…
I know, it’s probably not a real word, but it’s my Word Of The Week!
It’s been one of those head shaking weeks. If it’s not been one thing, it’s been another and it’s left me feeling ARGH!
Why?…
It all started on Monday when after sorting Greg’s medical books out (he’s recently turned 18), we were told that he may now lose the bit of financial help we get towards his speech therapy. So we have cut back to one a week and will pay on a weekly basis until we know what is going on….Needless to say we were left feeling ARGH!
On Wednesday my husband found a second litter of feral kittens in the shed. We already have one litter of feral kittens in a box on our back balcony, so we have fenced it off to prevent the dogs going there and put food out for the Mother cat. I am hoping that maybe she will keep them there, and when the kittens are old enough, we can keep two (spay/neuter and vaccinate them) and my parents will take the other two.
Morris (our not so feral anymore) cat has been missing for over three weeks now. He wasn’t a pet and at first I couldn’t go anywhere near him without him spitting and hissing, but over the course of two years he learned to trust me enough to greet me in the morning with a head butt and a meow when I fed him (I still wouldn’t touch him without him butting me). He proved to be the answer to keeping the mouse population down (mice are normal part of living in the sticks, but I’d rather they didn’t come into the house), so we are keen to give the kittens a home as much for our own benefit as for theirs…But we can’t take on the two litters and no one wants cats as there are so many of them on the island. For now I am putting out food in the shed and we will see what happens. But finding a second litter of kittens left us feeling ARGH!
Thursday morning we had a power cut, no biggy we often get them…Except our main computer wouldn’t reboot, so it’s with the PC doctor getting fixed. Really hoping that we don’t loose everything on there as it’s always down to me to sort it out and I just don’t have the time….Another ARGH!
Our daughter is taking the Cambridge English Proficiency exam soon (for which we are very proud as she is only fifteen, fully bilingual and has never had an English lesson except for recently in preparation for the exam). The ARGH! is that not only do the books and exam cost a mini fortune, she now has to go to the mainland to take the exam as there will be no exam center for the Cambridge Proficiency in May. You’d think that because there will be an exam center on the island for the lower Cambridge English exams in May, that they’d be able to oversee a proficiency…But no! She has to go to the mainland the day before, luckily this doesn’t faze her, but it’s a definite ARGH!
Tomorrow is Monday. I am looking forward to moving into a fresh, new week!
