Headache…
This week my Word Of The Week just had to be headache!
A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post on how I had decided to take Action by starting a second blog, which is to be a photo blog…Nothing too exciting, just somewhere I can share my very non award winning photos.
Twelve months ago I set up this blog. It took me a good two weeks and a lot of blood, sweat and tears (and that was without writing any posts!). This time round I thought it would be easier as I am a little more computer savvy than I was back then….No. To be honest I am no more computer savvy, just a little less fearful of what I’m doing.
So Far…
I have had to install another WordPress.org installation on my laptop…Which went quite smoothly thanks to tutorials (which I watched on repeat!).
I thought I would keep it simple and install the same theme as I have for this blog and just set it up slightly differently.
Sounds Straight Forward?…
That’s what I thought too, but it’s proven to be a headache in more ways than one. Not only have things not been as straightforward as I had expect, it has been one headache after another (literally on some days).
Why…
I’ve found that even though I have the exact same WordPress.org installation and am using the same theme installation, that some plugins aren’t cooperating in the same way, so there has been much installing and uninstalling going on.
I’ve also found setting up some of the plugins testing too (to the point of banging my head against the table, which coupled with bad posture as I’ve slumped across the keyboard has probably caused a headache or two).
I spent one evening checking out watermark plugins. Installed the one I thought seemed the best. Set it up following the instructions, only to find I couldn’t get it to work like it was meant to. I ended up uninstalling it and wasting a whole evening.
I was hoping to get Chirpy Debs Photo Blog up and running by April 1st (I should have been the first to see the joke in that!), but that didn’t happen. Even though it feels like I’ve spent hours, sitting up way past my bedtime, trying to get it finished and with a few photos on it before making it public.
My headache got so bad I actually took a break from the computer for a couple of days.
I have also developed dark circles under my eyes and far more wrinkles than I had a fortnight ago!
The Good News Is…
That I feel like I’m almost there.
I do have a busy week ahead as the children are now off school ( Easter is celebrated next weekend in Greece) for a fortnight, but I also feel that I could be making my photo blog public in the next few days.
Once it is up and running as I would like, it shouldn’t be too difficult to keep running as it will focus more on photographs than writing…Although I’ll probably have difficulty not waffling on too much!
I will also be able to get back on track with my blog post reading and writing.
Do you have a #WotW you’d like to share with the world? The why not pop over to Jocelyn Reading’s blog, The Reading Residence and link up?
