This week there were several words that I would like to have used for my Word Of The Week post, but I settled on the word Pleased as that is how I’ve been feeling for the most part of it.
Why I Have Been feeling Rather Pleased…
Back in September my blog theme was updated, for anyone who maybe interested my blog theme is Modern Blogger Pro Theme by Pretty Darn Cute, but updating the theme wasn’t as straight forward as other updates I’ve done (press the update button and HeyPresto! It’s done).
This time I had to uninstall the old version of my theme and reinstall the new version and the thought of doing so struck fear into my heart. It took me the best part of two weeks to get my blog up and running as I wanted when I first started blogging (I am not what you would call computer savvy), so to do it all over again filled me with dread. I was petrified of losing everything I had done so far, even though I backed everything up, saving it on my laptop, the main computer and a USB stick. I do have a tendency of being a bit OTT when it comes to some things!
I really liked the look of the updated version, so I knew that at some point I would have to sit down and face my fears or forever be nagged by the voice in my head reminding me of how much nicer my blog could look if I wasn’t such a scaredy cat!
After Weeks Of Procrastinating…
By last Wednesday I had had enough of putting it off and decided just to go ahead and do my best. I knew from experience that the people over at Pretty Darn Cute are really helpful and would help me in anyway I needed if I had problems and the update came with full installation instructions, that weren’t too difficult to follow (just scarey!).
I sat down on Wednesday afternoon with butterflies having a right party in my belly, read (about ten times) and followed the instructions for uninstalling my theme and reinstalling the updated version and to my surprise it really was that easy! I lost nothing and not only gained some improvements to the theme, but gained a little more confidence too.
By midnight on Wednesday I had installed and fiddled around with a whole load of new plugins, deleting some and keeping others.
I don’t like working on the computer too late into the evening usually as my brain won’t shut down afterwards, no matter how physically tired I am. So when I finally crawled into bed I managed to read two chapters of the book I was reading (Water For Elephants), which I highly recommend, I finished it this morning and felt sad as I closed the book for the last time….I usually only manage two pages when I read before I go to sleep!
So On Thursday Morning…
I was not only pleased that I had finally sat down and updated my blog (and that it all went rather smoothly), I was also pleased that I managed to read so much before drifting off to sleep the night before….I was also very tired as I seem to have a very efficient body clock that has me awake at six o’clock whatever day of the week it is.
Another Good Reason For Feeling Pleased…
Was the fact that our car, that is over ten years old, went through it’s MOT without a hitch.
So all in all it has been a good week and for that I am pleased…
Well that’s my Word Of The Week. What would yours be? Why not pop over to Jocelyn Readings blog – The Reading Residence – and check out what other peoples #WotW are?
