This week I didn’t have to think too hard about my Word Of The Week as this simple honest phone call from a large online company stood out and really made my day. I like many other people like it when someone is honest and like many others have been a victim of dishonesty.
So My Word Of The Week Is…
What Happened…
Living on a Greek island we are quiet often forced to pay over the odds for things as competition is poor. This daylight robbery makes me a little cross as I hate greed, so if I can buy things online for cheaper I do.
This time last year one of our dogs was very poorly with liver failure, but with plenty of patience, love and a change of diet she is fit and healthy once again, but her illness was a bit of a wake up call for us and we changed all our dogs diets. We now feed them the best quality dry dog food we can afford and home cook food to mix in with it, instead of using tinned dog food – although I do keep a tin of dog food for emergencies, but try not to use it unless I really have to.
When Roxy, our German Shepherd became ill, it took a while to work out what was wrong with her, but once her blood tests came back indicating liver failure our vet advised us to change her dry food for special hepatic diet dog food, not that she was eating anything really and it was touch and go for her.
When we went to buy the special hepatic diet dog food we were shocked to see the price of it, I think it was something like €21 for three kilograms of food, which wouldn’t last a week for Roxy if she was eating properly, but we had no choice other than to buy it. I also did plenty of research and found that I could help her by cooking low animal fat/high quality protein foods like white fish, chicken breasts, olive oil , brown rice and certain vegetables to go along side the special hepatic diet dog pellets.
Thank Goodness For Online Shopping…
As we found an online shop (Pet Click) based in Athens that sold hepatic diet dog food for a lot less than we were paying. We could buy a fourteen kilogram bag of food and have it delivered to us for €70, still a lot but she needed it.
Once she recovered we changed all of the dogs dry food to a better quality brand and still kept buying it from the company, we don’t pay for postage and it only takes two days for the food to get to us.
So Why Is My #WotW Honest?…
Sometimes Pet Click have offers when you get an extra three kilograms of food free, so of course having five dogs it pays to take advantage of these offers when they come up on the food we use.
Last week there was one such offer on the food we get for the younger dogs, so we ordered two bags, expecting to get six kilograms of dog food extra for free. Before we had received the dog food a nice chap from the company phoned to inform us that they had forgotten to add the extra food and will post it onto us next week. This made my day! I found it refreshing that a large company was honest enough to admit they made a mistake and for that they earned my respect as a company!
So what’s your Word Of The Week? Why not write a post and join the linky party!
