I am not sure the word Cif can count as a Word Of The Week as it’s a brand name rather than a real word, but I am going with it nonetheless…
What Is Cif?…
For anyone who doesn’t know what Cif is; it’s a cream cleaner that was a household favourite when I was growing up and back then it then went by the name Jif. I have no idea why they changed the name and I still refer to it as Jif.
So Why The Word Cif?…
Because I never realized just how good it was until this week. I usually buy a supermarket brand of cream cleaner as it’s cheaper for a bigger bottle, so I figured it was good value for money as it did what I thought was a good job. For some reason a few weeks back I end up buying Cif. Maybe the supermarket was out of their own brand, I can’t remember, but I it is fair to say that I won’t be buying their supermarket brand anymore….Sorry Lidls!
It’s only €2.00 for a bottle, so it’s not like it’s going to break the bank or anything.
I Actually Heard Myself Say Wow!…Out Loud!
I know! Sad, isn’t it?
Last week I was cleaning the top of the stove using Cif, the stove top wasn’t overly grubby or greasy, so I had no reason to be impressed when the Cif did it’s job…..
Now I don’t know if it was just me, but I could never get the extractor fan area really clean. I can use fairy liquid and boiling water and have even used a steam cleaner in the past to try to get it totally clean, but it always has a slight tackiness to it. It looked fine, but still felt a little greasy.
Well the day I cleaned the stove top I thought I’d have a go at the outside of the extractor fan while I was at it. I put a small amount of Cif onto my cloth and gave the hood a wipe and that’s when I heard myself verbalize the word WOW! The grease and stickiness literally just melted away. I didn’t even have to apply much pressure. It really was amazing.
It took me all of ten minutes {if that!} to totally clean the outside of the extractor hood. I wiped over it with Cif, then gave it a couple of wipes over with a clean damp cloth to remove the residue and the dried it off with a bit of kitchen roll. There was no mess, no buckets of hot water and no cursing that it wasn’t coming up clean.
The Sad Thing Now Is That…
I keep taking people into the kitchen to stroke the extractor hood. Even the hairdresser wanted to see the bottle of Cif so she can get some. There really is no feeling of stickiness, the surface is totally clean and shiny.
There was more than one type of Cif, so I don’t know if they all work as well, but the bottle I bought is blue with a pink lid. And I do highly recommend it!
Well, that was my Word Of The Week. What’s yours?…
