What Is A Virtual Blog Tour?
A virtual blog tour is just what it says it is. It’s a tour around blogs. On this tour bloggers get invited to answer four simple blogging questions and then get to invite and introduce other bloggers to take part in the tour.
It’s a great way of sharing some blogging love too.
How Being Invited On My First Blogging Tour Made Me Feel…
Being invited to take part on this tour made feel quite chuffed. It also gave me a little confidence boost, which is never a bad thing, especially as a new blogger. I hope that the bloggers I invite to take part in the tour get the same confidence boost I did.
Who Invited Me On The Virtual Blog Tour?
I was invited to take part in the Virtual Blog Tour by Jen from JENerally Informed. I met Jen through the Mommy Reality Challenge that she hosts on her blog every week. Taking part in the Mommy Reality Challenge has given me the opportunity to ‘meet’ and chuckle along with other Mums at the true reality of being a Mum.
On her blog Jen shares stories about her family and even has a weekly ManDay post which is written by her better half. I would highly recommend checking out her blog, JENerally Informed.
Now For The Four Tour Questions…
-
1. What am I working on?
At the moment I am still working on getting my blog just as I want it. When I started my blog back in March I was pretty clueless as to how to get my blog looking like I want, I was also petrified of making too many changes in case I messed up. Now I have a better idea of how to do things and I also know that if I do accidentally mess up my blog, all I need to do is to phone my hosting company and they will help me put things right.
-
2. How does my work differ from others in it’s genre?
I think this is a tricky question as all blogs are different; no two bloggers have the same ideas, thoughts and feelings. Which is what makes blogging so special.
As the name suggests [Debs Random Writings] is a very random blog. When I first started blogging I did have a couple of ideas as to what genre I wanted it to fall into, but when I really thought about it I didn’t want to compartmentalize my blog. Which is why I opted for a random blog, where I can write about whatever tickles my fancy.
I would like to think that what differentiates my blog from other blogs in its genre is my personality and the way that I write.
-
3. Why do I write/create what I do?
Writing is like a therapy, it gives me something to focus on. My blog is somewhere I can share things that are important to me, whether they are serious subjects or more lighthearted things. It gives me an excuse to escape from what is going on around me, which is sometimes a little too crazy for my liking and it also gives me the chance to ‘meet’ other bloggers who I can relate to.
-
4. How does your writing/creating process work?
I can get ideas for a post at anytime, but most often they come when I am out running or cycling – probably because it’s the only time I can hear myself think. When I have an idea for a post I try to write it down or an hour later I have forgotten what the idea was….Can’t blame the children for that though, I have always had a memory like a sieve!
When I know I am going to have the time to sit and write a post, I start thinking about how I want the post to come across and what photos I want to use. But saying that, when I do actually sit down to write I tend to just go with the flow. There has often been times when I have sat down to write a post only to end up writing one that is totally different from the one I had in my head. Which is probably a reflection of my personality and how I am feeling at the time.
I hope you enjoyed getting a glimpse into how I go about my blogging. I found it harder than I thought to answer these seemingly easy questions.
I would now like to introduce you to three other bloggers who I have invited to take part in the Virtual Blog Tour next week:
When I started blogging back in March, Lysa was one of the first bloggers I got to know. Her support is greatly appreciated and this is my way of thanking her for that support. Her blog Welcome To My Circus, But I Wouldn’t Have It Any Other Way is where she shares what is going on in her life and her thoughts and feelings. Much of the time putting a smile on her face in circumstances that would make many of us want to hide under the bed and not come out. Why not check out her blog to see what she is writing about?
Yolanda is also one of the first bloggers I met. In her blog Live A Better Story she writes posts that encourages positive thinking. Her attitude is that we can take control of our lives by looking honestly at who we are and what makes us tick and then making changes. Her posts are full of great advice as to how to ‘Live A Better Story’. I would highly recommend that you take a look at her blog, after all there is always something we could improve in our lives!
Tinuke is a blogger I only recently met. I happened to click on one of her posts on the Brilliant Blog Posts linkup and liked what I read. Tinuke is a busy Mum trying to find a balance in her life for all the things she loves, hence the name of her blog, Circus Mums.
One of her posts How A Blogging Conference Saved My Blog is about how she had considered stopping blogging over the past year, but a trip to a blogging conference gave her the inspiration and motivation that she needed to carry on. Which I am glad about, as so many of us busy Mums can probably relate to much of what she writes. I encourage you to check out her blog, if only to know that you are not alone in your juggling of life!
Well that’s it, my post for the Virtual Blog Tour has finally come to an end. Was that really a sigh of relief that I heard?..MMmmm?….As my feet touch the ground again and I pass on the tour baton, I do it knowing that this tour will continue to introduce and highlight bloggers from all over the Blogoshere. Hopefully inspiring and motivating bloggers to continue to write what’s in their hearts and their minds….Don’t forget to check out their posts for the tour next week!
Please take the time to browse the blogs in this post, you never know what you may find….
Thank you for reading!
