Carrying on in the vein of my previous couple of Sunday Photos, my planned photo wasn’t to be. I have given up (for now) getting a decent photo of a bumble bee and have set my sights (or viewfinder) on something totally different. The sun rising over the mainland, as seen from the hills near us!
Being an early bird by nature I thought this would be an easy photo to get. Several times a week I am out of the door at 6.15am for a morning plod, so my weekend task of getting up a hill to photograph the sun as it rises over the mainland didn’t seem overly difficult. Even when I am tired I wake up early, it just happens and can be both a blessing and a curse. A blessing, because it is, for me, the best time of the day. A curse because sometimes, just once in a while I would love to wake up a little later.
Today was one of those days when I did wake up later. Not too late as it wasn’t even 7 am, but late enough to have missed the sun as it rose. I did try though. As soon as I saw the time I got up, got dressed (showering could wait), grabbed my camera, car keys and one of the dogs. Not even a cup of coffee was consumed.
It was still lovely to look over the island as the day was starting. I made the most of the cool morning air as the days are hot now. So with the camera in one hand and the dog in the other we plodded up the hill on the lookout for an alternative My Sunday Photo. And it wasn’t long before I found one!… I do have visions of bloggers, who take part in My Sunday Photo, sighing with relief when they find their Sunday Photo. We are a focused bunch!
So here you have
My Sunday Photo
Standing at around four feet I thought this thistle was quite impressive. Although I didn’t manage to get a decent photo of it in its entirety.
Did you get your planned My Sunday Photo this week?
