A Common Garden Snail
Recently we have had some terrific storms and driving rain that I only ever thought happened in a tropical paradise. On Tuesday we even had a tornado/whirlwind, which a friend of mine managed to get a good photo of (I am so jealous!).
I now know that I never got the chance to photograph that tornado, because the stars were aligned for me to capture something far less spectacular; a common garden snail!
The rains have attracted all sorts of slugs and snails out from their summer hiding place. And when I saw this rather handsome looking snail, gliding across the path, I just had to take a photo. Unfortunately I did only have my phone camera at hand, but that was better than nothing.
I am very lucky that I wasn’t certified bonkers, right there on the spot, as I clicked away. But when you have hair the colour of mine, you tend to find that not much surprises people. So they tend to make allowances for the crazy English lady. I can’t say that I didn’t feel more than slightly self conscious, I’m just glad there weren’t more people around!
A Very Handsome Snail He Was Too
A rather ‘andsome specimen of a snail, don’t you think?
Dishes? Washing? Dishes? Washing?…. Romanticise snail photo?
It may well be the first time a snail has ever been turned into an oil painting, but I think it works.
The dishes and washing still haven’t been done. And later on I’ll be wondering where the time went, but then that’s about par for the course!
So what’s your favorite way of procrastinating?
