Our Evening Out In Pantokratoras
Living on a Greek island in the summer there is no shortage of things to do in the evening. The resorts are in full swing with bars, nightclubs and tavernas open and offering a whole range of evening entertainment to choose from, if you wish to be entertained.
There are also the quieter activities to choose from, like a quiet evening walk along a beach (as long as it’s not one of the turtle ones), a ride in a horse and carriage or (for us) a walk up the Pantokratoras hills with the dogs – perfect as we live at the base of them and which is probably as exciting as an evening out gets in Pantokratoras.
Not being a party person, it’s not a surprise that I jump at the chance of an evening walk over a ‘proper’ night out and last week we had one such evening.
Our Evening Out In Pantokratoras, In Photos
The sun was just starting to set behind the hills putting us in shade.
In the distance the bay of Lagana and Kalamaki is visible. Which is a turtle protected area.
I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of looking at olive trees as and the interesting shapes they form.
I bet this old olive tree has a tale or two to tell.
And this one.
The hills are full of old stone walls, that have been built to create a step affect making it easier to look after the olive trees.
I can’t stop myself from taking a photo when I see trees nicely silhouetted against the sky.
I had intended to get a closeup photo of the sun catching the grass, but it would have taken forever! We were on an evening stroll after all.
Walking through the olive groves is like walking through an enchanted wood.
A walk with Neal wouldn’t be a walk with Neal, without him wanting to explore. In this case a very steep track.
But if you don’t climb the steep tracks, you won’t see the best views.
I love the different shades of green of the trees.
From high up on Pantokratoras mini mountains you can see the sea on both sides of the island. And from the very top there’s a three hundred and sixty degree view of the island, but we never went that high that day.
A view I don’t think I’ll ever get fed up of.
As you can probably guess I had a hard time deciding which photos to share, so decided to share them all!
Well that was my idea of an evening out in Pantokratoras. What’s your idea of a good evening out?
