Why Would You Ever Need To Colour Code Your Dog’s Poop?
Colour coding dog’s poop may sound a little strange, but as I found out recently there may come a time when you need to colour code your dog’s poop. Especially if you have more than one dog, as we do.
Recently all four of our dogs were sick with a stomach bug, and the hardest part of it all was trying to monitor which dog had done which poop. The time wasted, following the dogs to see what they were passing, was time that could have been spent doing other things.
After sharing a post about the dogs being ill, a friend of mine contacted me to say that when her two dogs have had upset stomachs at the same time, she adds a little sweetcorn to one of the dogs dinners. That way she knows which dog has done which poop.
Adding a small amount of hard to digest food to your dogs dinner, will make identifying which dog did which poop so much easier.
Pure Genius, Don’t You Think?
After the initial amusement of colour coding the dog’s poop had worn off, I realised that the idea was pure genius! And wished I’d known about it a week earlier! Such a simple idea too, but aren’t they usually the best?
How To Colour Code Your Dog’s Poop
When your dog has a dicky stomach, it’s always a good idea to start them on a bland diet of chicken and rice, as it’s easy on the stomach and it takes a really sick dog to turn it’s nose up at a piece of chicken ( a good indication of just how sick your dog is). Be sure to use white rice as brown rice has a higher fiber content, which will only serve to aggravate your dogs delicate digestive system even more.
To make your dogs poop identifiable, all you need to do is to add a small amount of hard to digest foods like sweetcorn, carrot, green beans, red pepper or peas to their chicken and rice. Don’t forget to take note of which dog ate what in their food and Hey Presto! Next time you do your poop patrol you’ll know exactly which dog did what.
I can report that all four of our dogs are happy and healthy again, so I didn’t have to implement a colour coding system, but I certainly will if it happens again.
Have you ever thought to colour code your dog’s poop before now?
