Spring Flowers On Zakynthos
It’s already well into February and there are already spring flowers on Zakynthos! Spring does start earlier here than in the UK, with certain flowers like narcissus and iris being predominantly early bloomers, but this year I have noticed more delicate, tiny spring flowers blooming early.
Last week we went on a long walk around Marathia and as well as capturing some beautiful pictures of the views I managed to get some quite nice ones of some spring flowers too.
It is quite common to see iris growing at the side of the roads and in fields, but more often than not they aren’t at their peak. This one was at it’s best, the blue petals looked fresh and hadn’t started to brown and it was standing proud.
The other spring flowers I managed to photograph were tiny and grow close to the ground. Some of them I would have missed if it weren’t for fellow walkers pointing them out to me.
I am still getting used to using my camera and although I did use the close-up setting on the dial, the tiny spring flowers didn’t come out quite as clear as I would have liked. Oh, well, practice makes perfect, or so they say!
Are the spring flowers starting to show their pretty little heads where you are?
