When Was The Last Time You Sorted Out Your Makeup?
It’s nice to make an effort, but once we become Mums, updating our cosmetic bags, trying new ways of applying makeup and even trying new products, falls way down our list of priorities. We are lucky to have five minutes to sit down with a cup of tea let alone half an hour to go shopping for new makeup and then be able to find the time to experiment with new products.
Oh and makeup isn’t cheap.
For Years My Makeup Routine…
Has consisted of cleansing, moisturising, applying BB cream, a touch of blusher to my pasty checks, under eye concealer (to hide the dark circles my Mum kindly passed down to me), a smudge of eye shadow (usually my blusher) and mascara (the one thing I wouldn’t live without)…. And that’s on a good day.
For a while now I’ve been meaning to go through my makeup and have a makeup makeover, but it was never top of my list of priorities. Now I am pleased to say I finally have…Not only that, but I’ve actually been shopping for some new products too.
I thought that maybe my ‘look’ would benefit from some new products, after all time stops for no one and whilst I don’t obsess about aging ( I’m far prefer the denial approach), I can no longer ignore the fact that maybe there are makeup products better suited to my slightly aging (yeah, right!) skin.
I’ve Invested In Some New Products…
This week I’ve bought myself some primer, a bottle of proper foundation and liquid eyeliner (something I could never get on with before and my! how eyeliners have changed!). But my favourite discovery has been L’Oreals LumiMagique Pure Light Primer, which brightens my skin in a subtle, but flattering way.
I also threw out any makeup that was old or broken. Most of which I was keeping to give the illusion of having a nicely stocked makeup case.
I Also Bought A Couple Of New Makeup Brushes…
A nice flat headed blending brush and a couple of different brushes for applying eye shadow with. I even washed the brushes I already had (something I used to do regularly before I had children).
Next Week…
I think I’m going to go and check out some new eye shadows, I’ve heard that matte colours are more flattering on wrinkly eyelids!
Can you remember the last time you gave your makeup a makeover?
