As Silly As It May Seem…
I am a touch nervous.
It’s been a while since I wrote a blog post. I’ve got butterflies in my stomach and feel a tad silly.
My Absence…
Was unscheduled. Summer is always a busy time for us. The change of routine in May throws me off kilter and I struggle to find a new balance. The children have exams, with odd school hours. My husband starts working long hours, seven days a week (only a few more weeks of that craziness left). And I have work too.
If That Wasn’t Enough…
Greg’s officially finished school and where he goes from here, we have no idea. It would be a worry if he was capable of being independent, but with him having Aspergers (with added extras) and no professional support, makes it even more of a worry. At the moment he (and us) are in limbo.
I tried not to let Greece, it’s woes and all the scaremongering that has gone on, get to me. My philosophy is what will be, will be and whatever happens we will deal with, but when a country is left hanging in the balance for so long, it does become unsettling, as you just can’t deal with what you don’t know!.. And there are fresh elections due next week….Can’t wait!
I’ve had reminders of just how precious life can be. Knowing people; good people, young people, who have sadly lost their lives through terrible illnesses. I try to appreciate life, but when people die before what should have been their time it does make me rethink.
We’ve lost one dog and gained five cats (which has meant minimum rodent activity!).
It is safe to say I never recovered my kilter….
So I Decided…
Not to stress and to have a good summer.
This summer, it occurred to me that it won’t be too many years before Catherine heads off into the big wide world. When she finishes school here in three years time, she plans to go to University in England. And as every parent knows, time flies, so I’ve been making the most of it and enjoying her company.
We’ve gone on early morning runs down the beach together, which we often followed with a swim in the sea. I really wanted to get a photo of a turtle hatchling making it’s journey from it’s nest to the sea, but did I?…. No!
Oh, there were mornings when we could see a handful people in the distance, congregated around something (obviously a hatchling!) on the beach, but by the time we’d run up the beach, the baby turtle had completed it’s journey and the crowd had dispersed (reminder; work on speed for next summer!). Previous summers I have been lucky enough to witness baby turtles making that first journey to the sea on several occasions, but did I ever have a camera on me?…Again. No…
As A Family We’ve Spent Evenings…
Sat outside enjoying one anothers company; speaking rubbish whilst dinner was cooking on the barbecue. We’ve watched bad films and read good books.
During My Unscheduled Break…
I’ve had plenty of ideas for blog posts, but not enough time to do everything that blogging entails. So you’ll have to excuse me if some of my upcoming posts seem out of place!
And last, but not least I am back in contact with a couple of old school friends and it feels good.
I Did Appreciate…
The Twitter reminders I got, reminding me of up coming linky parties. They made me feel missed (am I needy or what?). Sorry I didn’t partake.
Well, that’s enough waffling for now…How was your summer?
