It’s week nine of the Mommy Reality Challenge and this week I have made a real effort to link up early. I’m usually rushing to get my post done the day before the challenge ends, but this week WILL be different!
The Mommy Reality Challenge is hosted by Jen, Carolyn and Celeste and has fast become my must do post. Not only does it give me an excuse for a post, but the challenge is fun and connects Mums from all walks of life. The challenge is to share honest photos related to whatever challenge the Mommy Reality Challenge Team set.
In recent weeks I’ve shared pictures of my secret stash, of me slobbing it round the house and of what summertime means to me.
This Weeks Challenge Is…Life Hacks!
Life hacks are little things that us Mums might find ourselves doing to make life easier for ourselves or to save us some precious time.
My Dream Life Hack…
My dream life hack when my children were younger was to be able to put my children to bed dressed in their school clothes and for them to wake up not looking like they had slept in them. Essentially saving time and keeping stress levels to a minimum in the morning…..But that dream was never realised!
My Mommy Reality Life Hack…
I am afraid that the only life hack I can share with you Mums, is the fact that how I iron clothes is dictated by the seasons. Shhhh, don’t tell my husband…What he doesn’t know won’t hurt him!!
I don’t like ironing. I know other people who find ironing relaxing and watch the television whilst doing it and I have tried that, but all I ended up with was a melted thumb and ironed in creases… Not good!
In the winter I don’t waste time ironing tee shirts or any other item of clothing that isn’t going to be seen. I make sure that I fold them neatly and apply pressure whist doing so, but they don’t see an iron.
As the weather warms up I will iron only the front panel of tee shirts, so that if the wearer undoes their jacket, cardigan or hoodie their shirt looks just fine.
In the summer I do iron the sleeves on tee shirts and I iron hard down the center panel on the back of the tee shirt to ensure that the front looks ironed. I then quickly fold the tee shirt, so that the heat from the freshly ironed panel helps to make the rest of the tee shirt look ironed.
So far it is a trick that I have not been pulled up on. Luckily none of my family wear what I call proper clothes – shirts and trousers. Although I had to for a job I had a few years ago, but I made sure that my blouses were the ones that had to be twisted and tied in a knot to dry.
Even now all my skirts are gypsy styled skirts, so that I just have to twist, knot and hang them on the line to dry. I don’t have to worry about folding them to put them away, I just screw them up and store them in the bottom of the ironing basket……That sounds really bad, but life is too short to spend it ironing!
Well that’s my little time saving cheat. If you have a time saver or a little ‘cheat’ why not pop over and join in the Mommy Reality Challenge?
